Hemal Patel was previously Senior Director of Pharmacy Strategy and Health Plan Services for Evolent Health, where he led the build of Pharmacy Benefit Services for newly developed Provider Sponsored Health Plans across different regions across the country. His focus was on managing health plan pharmacy costs and utilization across the self-funded, fully insured commercial, Medicare and Medicaid lines of business using creative strategies for drug cost and channel management. Prior to joining Evolent Health, Hemal was a Clinical Account Manager at OptumRx serving large fortune 500 companies managing their employer sponsored pharmacy plans. He also served as a Medicare Pharmacy Director for Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield and as a Regional Clinical Pharmacist for Coventry Health Care with experience managing formularies, policies for utilization management and other quality related initiatives such as HEDIS and STARS measures. Hemal attended Shenandoah University where he received his Doctor of Pharmacy and Master’s in Business Administration.
