Meryam is an experienced leader with more than 23 years of strategic and operational expertise in the pharmacy benefit management and financial services sectors. She has held executive positions within privately held organizations, publicly traded companies, and private-equity owned entities.
Most recently, Meryam served as General Manager at Elixir, the PBM subsidiary of RiteAid which was acquired by MedImpact. As a pioneer of transparent, pass-through pricing, her organization collaborated with pharmacy retailers and manufacturers to lower the cost of medications for patients across the United States. In this role, she managed the high-value direct-to-consumer line of business, overseeing discount card and copay offset programs that grew to generate over $750M in patient savings per year. She catered to large and mid-sized clients across the spectrum of this increasingly important segment of the PBM industry. Meryam has been on the forefront of the evolution from small, stand-alone pharmacy discount card offerings into what exists today as fully integrated solutions embedded within many funded drug benefit programs. She has successfully navigated the evolving regulatory landscape, the growing complexity of PBM and pharmacy contracting, drug price volatility, and significant changes in the retail pharmacy environment. In the healthcare sector, she has experience with buy-side and sell-side transactions, including complex integrations post-acquisition and bankruptcy work-outs.
Prior to a career in healthcare, Meryam served as a Vice President at American Express where she held leadership roles focused on strategic initiatives to enhance business intelligence platforms, improve operational efficiency, and transform data into monetizable assets. Her diverse career with Amex over nearly a decade included assignments within credit operations, re-engineering, tax, treasury, and information services.
