As Principal Cofounder of Quintuple Aim Solutions, Dr. Alavi partners with health tech startups to accelerate their path towards value-based care through strategy, operations, and commercialization advisory services. He also engages risk bearing partners on care model optimization, institutional affordability solutions, and pragmatic approaches to integrate health equity best practices into the fabric of existing programs.
He was the Chief Clinical Officer of Dispatch Health, and the President of their Advanced Care business unit in 2022. He grew the nation’s only national hospital at home program 6X in less than one year and developed scalable quality improvement infrastructure to benefit patients for years to come.
As the former lead for Institutional Affordability at Optum, he was responsible for the strategy, tactics, and implementations of national programs that impacted $6 billion of facility-based care at OptumCare CDOs. His team developed and scaled care transformation solutions across outpatient, ED, Inpatient, and post-acute settings.
Prior to joining Optum, Dr. Alavi had a series of medical leadership roles that improved the quality of care through research, policy, and public health. He earned MD/MBA degrees from Thomas Jefferson University, competed residency in Internal Medicine at Mt. Auburn Hospital of Harvard Medical School, and a General Internal Medicine fellowship from Johns Hopkins school of Medicine. Dr. Alavi also received an MHS in cardiovascular epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with extensive hospitalist experience.
